Charleston International Film Festival
The goal of the Charleston International Film Festival (CIFF) is to unite people through the art and science of cinema. We hope to encourage discussion, a broader understanding of various cultures, and the inspiration of filmmakers from all over the world through this special form of expression that has the ability to stir our emotions and challenge our thinking like nothing else.
In a city with a rich American heritage, CIFF is an international film festival devoted to highlighting the creativity and ability of up-and-coming filmmakers from the U.S. and throughout the world. A competition for screenplays will also be place.
Through the art and science of cinema, the Charleston International Film Festival (CIFF) was established to unite people. We want to encourage discussion, increase cross-cultural understanding, and inspire filmmakers from all over the globe via this special art, which has the ability to stir our emotions and spark thinking like nothing else.
Participants at the 9th Annual CIFF will congregate for 5 days to take part in premieres, special events, seminars, after parties, and business possibilities. All genres and subjects are represented in the festival in the form of shorts, films, documentaries, and animations.
At the Awards Gala on the fifth and final night of the festival, CIFF will give out prizes to recognize the best in screenplay and filmmaking that were on show during the competition. These prizes include a cash award of $1,000 for the best film and a cash reward of $500 for the best screenplay.
Charliewood Pictures, Xfinity, Stoli, College of Charleston, The Botanist, The Art Institute of Charleston, Palmetto Brewery, Charleston Magazine, Carolina One, Technical Event Company, Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, Trident Technical College, inventivENVIRONMENTS, Legare+Bailey+Hinske, Charleston Magazine, Vouch, and Snyder Event Rentals have all sponsored CIFF, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Rules & Terms
Our festival selection committee screens each film submitted to the Charleston International Film Festival, seeking for excellence in quality and creativity in recent independent filmmaking. The festival will screen more than 85 of the most prestigious independent films, including documentaries, shorts, and cartoons (including music videos). The winner of the screen play competition will be announced during the closing awards ceremony, which will take place on Sunday.
